AD Ports Group, in partnership with Unicargas and Multiparques, has commenced construction of the new Noatum Ports Luanda Terminal in Angola, an ambitious project that will reshape the country’s maritime landscape. With an initial investment of US$250 million, the development is designed to transform Luanda into a high-capacity logistics hub capable of handling Super Post-Panamax vessels.
Strengthening Luanda’s Role as a Regional Gateway
Located at Angola’s main seaport, the terminal will expand the port’s throughput capacity and enable it to serve larger vessels that dominate global container trades. Equipped with state-of-the-art cranes, modern yard facilities, and digital management systems, the new facility will improve cargo efficiency, reduce vessel turnaround times, and provide world-class logistics solutions to domestic and regional markets.
“This project will establish Luanda as a competitive maritime gateway for West and Central Africa,” AD Ports said, adding that the terminal will also integrate sustainability and innovation into its operations.
Anchored in Angola’s Modernization Agenda
The Luanda Terminal project is closely aligned with Angola’s broader port modernization strategy, which has become a cornerstone of the country’s post-oil diversification agenda. The government has identified logistics, shipping, and trade facilitation as essential drivers of economic growth and is investing heavily in upgrading port and transport networks.
Over the past decade, Angola has launched initiatives to expand the Port of Lobito, improve Cabinda’s connectivity, and enhance hinterland transport corridors. The development of the Luanda Terminal is expected to complement these efforts by positioning the capital as a hub for both import and export cargo flows across the region.
